Article on the Wye and Usk Passport with the great Kev GreenI was fortunate to meet Kev on several occasions, either helping out on features or fishing just for fun. One of the nicest guys I've ever met and my thanks and thoughts will always be with him for getting the ball rolling with the features that followed.
Floater fishing a hidden stillwaterTrelough Pool is full of carp, roach and bream. It fishes well on the float with corn and bread, and if you can get them on the surface it's a very satisfying pool to catch carp on dog biscuits or crust. It's a lovely spot for a picnic and for just spending the day in the rolling Herefordshire countryside. Fish it here.
Trotting for chub on one of Angling Dreams' day ticket fisheries.I love trotting for chub, especially if I can get the waders on and get into the water with them. I tend to use only bread, and armed with a chubber float and size 2 hook there's no greater feeling than watching the float bury at 50 yards, striking into a "thump, thump, thump". Please take care when wading, and if in any doubt, don't!
Warwickshire Avon perchSometimes when the Wye floods I am grateful, one of the reasons being I am forced to fish on the Severn or the Warks Avon! If I'm not feeling in the mood for being frustrated senseless by the dropped runs or hook pulls from zander on the Severn, I'll head up to the Avon in search of perch. I spent a lot of time here with some good fishing buddies back in my University days - I love going back to the old haunts, especially when the residents are still putting in an appearance.

Wild carp fishing at Pant Y LlynTo fish here, head to the Wye and Usk Foundation website. Pant y Llyn is a magical place and one I like to visit at least once a year. Corn and bread is all you need for bait, and if it's not windy the float is the perfect method. If fishing with friends we like to take a rod each and just fish a light bomb with a size 14 tipped with corn. Turn the clutch down and wait for it to rattle off with one of these hard fighting carp attached to the end. Don't forget your camera, and your lunch!

Chub tips from the "experts"Here's a few quality tips to help you with your chub fishing.
Stillwater chub on an Angling Dreams' stillwaterThese might be the best looking chub in the country. Hard work in the crystal clear water, but they are well worth the torment when you get to see one out of their watery home. There's some nice tench in here too - visit our shop in Ross on Wye for information on fishing here.
Grayling fishing the river IrfonFishing the Irfon is like fishing a scene out of Lord of the Rings. We love it up the Irfon (!) and it contains some very special fish too. Make sure you take felt soled waders, and be sure to explore varying depths and speeds to catch what I think are one of the moodiest species in our waters - grayling. Tip - sweetcorn often picks out the biggest fish.
